Summary "RESEARCH BACKGROUND
These three models are new works created specifically for the exhibition Abundant: Australian Pavilion at the 11th Venice Biennale. They were explorative rather than representational pieces and sought to exploit the repertoire of compositional decisions used in designing the buildings from which they take their name, which were also designed by the authors.

RESEARCH CONTRIBUTION
Collectively these works contribute to the field of design practice in the area of technique and process. Specifically, they reflect the use and application of physical modelling in the design process.

RESEARCH SIGNIFICANCE
The Australian exhibition at the Venice Biennale is perhaps the most important Australian exhibition of architecture in an international context. The exhibition curators are selected by a panel of highly regarded peers (including the commissioner) by competitive process. The curators for this exhibition then selected 200 models, following a call for submissions. From a wide field of competition, Terroir was selected to exhibit three models. It is one of the few Australian practices with multiple works included in the exhibition and its work features in the accompanying exhibition catalogue of 2008."
