Abstract Diabetic and obese patients are at increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease. This thesis investigated the effect of tocomin; a drug containing a variant of vitamin E on oxidative stress and blood vessel function in diabetic and obese rats. It was found that tocomin improved blood vessel function decreased oxidative stress suggesting that it may be used with other existing therapies to delay the adverse effects of diabetes and obesity on cardiovascular health.
