Summary This chapter presents a range of issues still facing action research as it begins to take its place institwionally. In revisiting its underlying logic, 'action research ' is proposed as being far more significant in its modus operandi than 'mere technique '. Instead it is conceptualized as the process by which we and all other self-organizing living systems, 'inquire' in order to live. This way of thinking a bow action research has grown 0 111 of 35 years of the author's experience as an action research faciliJator and identifies the familiar cycles of participatOIJ' action research as analogical to the recursive dynamic forms of systemic life, at whatever scale, changing and ordering, moving constantly and relational/y within and between the inner and ower, process and structure.
