Abstract Interactive architecture plays an increasingly important role in todayís building practice. This includes design and implementation of kinetic facades. However, in the age of digital architecture, design and construction of kinetic facade has been under-explored and not well practically implemented. Hence, new design approach to integrate kinetic facade and architecture is needed for physical and content integration, instead of the traditional design approach. The ultimate objective of this study is to formulate a suitable design method to integrate kinesis with a building. Furthermore, this research aims to establish effective tectonics for kinetic facades through the exploration of different perspectives of practitioners involved directly with kinetic facades.
