Abstract We have shown previously that digital signal processing methods and in particular wavelets can be used to analyze linear sequences of amino acids to reveal the informational content of proteins. In addition, we have shown that Morlet wavelets are the most suitable for the identification of active sites within the protein sequence. Here, we modify the Morlet function to optimise it for the use in protein analysis.
