Abstract This paper presents a method for determining the guide wavelength in waveguide rectangular (WR)90 Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) waveguides. The equation used to compute the guide wavelength in waveguides takes into account the permittivity and permeability of the media in the waveguide, cut-off and free space wavelength. This is made in the assumption that the walls of the waveguides are made from perfectly conducting material for which copper or aluminum are good approximation. This paper presents a method for determining the guide wavelength in WR90 Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) waveguides. The results indicate that the guide wavelength in a [90,0]s WR90 CFRP waveguide is smaller than similar copper waveguide. This is of relevance when designing microwave devices made of CFRP such as slotted waveguide antennas.
