Abstract/Summary The first instalment of The CEO Profile Survey - Remuneration Overview detailed that 66% of CEOs surveyed received total salary packages between $100,001 and $300,000 per annum. This was in marked contrast to the median package for CEOs of Australia's Top 100 companies, which was $4.388 million. Though little has been written about the CEO remuneration landscape in privately held firms in Australia and elsewhere, the results reflected current packages in other developed countries (e.g. in one study in the US, the annual wage of the 'average' CEO was found to be $US151,370 and average CEO total compensation package, $197,000 per annum). This report dissects the data from The CEO Profile Survey, presenting findings relating to each of the eight total salary package (TSP) brackets that ranged from less than $100,000 per annum to more than $1 million per annum, and the five annual sales turnover brackets for firms that ranged from $2 - $10 million to $1 billion plus per annum. The results highlight associations between total salary packages and firm performance as measured by sales turnover, as well as significant and non-significant findings in regards to gender, tenure, business type and industry engaged in.
