Abstract/Summary The remuneration packages of CEOs of top 100 companies are widely (and often) reported to both the business and wider community from a distorted overall remuneration reality for most CEOs in Australia. The Australian Council of Superannuation Investors, which examined the CEO pay of the top 100 Australian companies, found that CEO pay and bonuses have risen over 200% over the past 10 years, although return to shareholders increased by only 31%. In 2010, total CEO median and average pay increased, with the median rising 8.6% to $4.388 million. Given this focus on CEOs of less than 0.1% of all Australian firms, the results of The CEO Profile Survey - Remuneration Overview offer a more accurate picture of CEO salaries and point to a restrained remuneration landscape in Australia that reflects the reality for CEOs of the majority of companies in other countries including the U.S. and the U.K
