Abstract/Summary This report presents a peer-reviewed Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), examining potential hot water systems (HWSs) in the built environment, for medium and high density apartment buildings. It compares the potential environmental impacts of either centralised or point of use hot water delivery within two buildings. LCA is the process of evaluating the potential effects that a product, process or service has on the environment over the entire period of its life cycle. The process for undertaking LCA is outlined in the ISO 14040 series of standards. This study conforms to both the requirements of the ISO14040:2006 and ISO14044:2006 LCA standards.
