Summary Handbook 1 "Urban neighborhoods - understanding the basic conditions and the initial situation grasp "(authors: Grates, Krön & Rüßler) deals thus, what conditions and structures in neighborhoods in which way can be collected to determine the initial situation of neighborhoods for neighborhood development processes capture. This is based in a special way the inventory, as was done in the QuartiersNETZ project. Of importance for the success of age-integrated neighborhood development processes are also certain (municipal) framework conditions. This is discussed with reference to the Ruhr area and the example of the city of Gelsenkirchen. In addition, it is discussed by which actors neighborhood development processes are often triggered and which actors are active on the ground.
