Abstract In this research, we study the benefit of information sharing in a two-stage supply chain, including a manufacturer and two retailers. The retailers compete in a market with two segments of customers. One segment contains loyal customers of each retailer. The other one consists of stockpiling customers, who will make a purchase whenever there is a price promotion. There are three sharing agreements, in which the retailers decide whether to share information with the manufacturer and the manufacturer, in turn, considers whether to make that information available to all retailers. By using a simulation approach, the value of information sharing is determined. In addition, the impact of various model's parameters on the magnitude of this value is explored. It is found that the benefit of information sharing is an increasing function of demand variability, unit production and unit overtime production costs, while it is a decreasing function of forecast variance and unit salvage price.
