Abstract/Summary Sydney Metro engaged a research team from RMIT University to undertake research investigating the clients role in creating supply network alignment in relation to work health and safety (WHS) in the construction industry. The research was completed over a 13 month period, commencing in July 2017. The research involved three main stages: a literature review, a review of WHS management system documents, and a series of interviews and focus groups with client, contractor and subcontractor representatives. The aim of the research was to examine Sydney Metros management approaches in driving improvements in WHS performance in its program of construction projects, and to examine the impact of client WHS initiatives in driving WHS outcomes in the broader construction industry supply network.
