Abstract A pseudospectral method for solving nonlinear receding-horizon control problems is presented. The method depends on solutions of simultaneous linear equations. The algorithm is demonstrated to be practical for online implementation in a tether system. The closed-loop performance is found to be excellent in the face of unmodeled disturbances due to tether mass and flexibility.
