Abstract The different experimental and theoretical methods of determining the fractal dimension (D) of solid adsorbents are reviewed. Attention is paid to the methods of calculation for D based on the results of a single adsorption isotherm measurement. A new derivation of the fractal analog of the FHH adsorption isotherm equation is given and a new model of adsorption on pore and surface fractal is proposed. Some of the methods are illustrated, applying our recently developed numerical algorithms.
