Abstract Cinnamon is used as a carminative and digestive aid for the treatment of stomach cramps and a range of gastrointestinal symptoms, while is also useful for dyspepsia, flatulence and mild GI cramping. Cinnamon is natural insulin sensitise, with effects established in both test-tube and animal studies, where methylhydroxychalcone polymers were first reported as the main constituents in cinnamon responsible for insulnomimetic activity.
