Abstract We cannot safely store excess calories in our bodies; however, the advances made in understanding how neural-endocrine circuits influence appetite, energy expenditure and storage and the impact of PPAR agonists on lipid metabolism provide some food for thought that may lead to new pharmacologic approaches to overcome obesity.
