Abstract The 'studio model' has been embraced and championed by many institutions, such as universities and technical colleges, which teach the various creative media disciplines. This model immerses individuals in a studio community in a quest for knowledge, skills development and creative enrichment, and to enhance and extend their expressive capabilities. Within the educational environment, the 'studio model' ideally includes creative and scholarly practice, shared learning, and cultural localisation.
