Abstract Results of a study to evaluate the efficacy of Chinese herbal medicines (CHM) for toxicity reduction in cancer chemotherapy are discussed. The study concluded that CHM does not alleviate chemotherapy-induced hematological toxicity, and thereby highlighted the need for testing the efficacy and safety of such medicines.
