Abstract By using homogenization, the complex topology optimization problem can be converted to a sizing optimization problem in terms of parameters that define the characteristics of microstructures chosen to describe the ground structure. The implementing algorithm to update the design variables using Kuhn-Tucker conditions using various microstructures have been shown to be rigorous.
